Muthafukasaurus (Pronounced "MuthAfukarsaurus" or "Mutha fuckers, or us" or "Mutha fuckers are us", depending on your mood) is Göatzilla's debut album. it was recorded in an old industrial freezer in browns plains by chris ross from pulpitation studios.
It features Ben Zilla on bass and vocals; Jonny Kaos on Guitar; Pete Beardsley on guitar, and Brien Timu on Drums. Shane Carr plays guitar on a couple of tracks that Pete wasn't available for (Drive to survive, Cold Cold Eyes and Pink Canoe), and Melinda Coles makes a guest appearance on fiddle for "Pink Canoe". All tracks were written by Ben and Jonny.
Its really a homage to our love of loud, raw rock - two guitars, drums and bass all turned up to 11 and everyone having a ball making noise. All of the tracks carry a message -
"Drop Bear" is the back story of Drop bears. Atomic radiation from the British nuclear tests in Maralinga and Emu Field in the '50s caused genetic mutation in Australian wildlife. This created some of our most feared creatures, including Cane Toads, Bogans, and Drop Bears. Rather than notifying the public to the dangers, ASIO and the CSIRO planned to weaponize the creature and so hushed its existence up, with disastrous results.
Ben suffered a drop bear attack at the age of 12 which left him decapitated. Fortunately, he'd done his first aid badge in cubs, so was able to stem the bleeding until he reached proper medical help. Ben's one of the lucky ones, it could have been serious. It also explains his vocal style and fear of trees.
Drop Bears are taking over from normal koalas due to excessive land clearing. Normal koalas will soon be listed as "endangered" with a high risk of extinction in the wild. Politicians are treating the threat of drop bears and koala extinction with the same degree of interest - ie, none. (BTW the politicians filmed getting flogged in this vid doesn’t indicate any specific political leaning of Drop Bears – they just attack the more interesting ones)
"Shut The Fuck Up" describes a manic episode for a sufferer of bi-polar disorder (which sounds a lot more fun than it really is);
"Fight TO Win" was penned for the Punks For West Papua cause and is dedicated to everyone fighting intolerance, injustice, and oppression;
"Ice Man" was inspired by a night out in the Valley;
"Actions" is about someone who really got on Jonny's wick;
"Pink Canoe" was inspired by the story of Japanese artist Megumi Igarashi who was arrested on Obscenity charges for modeling a full size, useable canoe on a 3D laser scan of her lady parts. She did this in an effort to raise awareness about the lack of education for women's health issues and that vulvas are considered a taboo subject. in addition to this outrage against artistic expression, Goatzilla felt describing a clitoris as "the little man in the canoe" was inappropriate, as it's about as womanly as the female anatomy can get and should be respected as such. The human body is a marvelous thing and we encourage everyone who's interested to learn as much about the right way to treat them as they possibly can and make the world a better place.
"Cold Cold Eyes" is about playing a live gig.
"Drive To Survive" is a re-imagining of the Elvis movie "speedway" but with Elvis dieing in and coming back as a zombie which makes it so much better.
and "High Octane" is about motorsports, just this time without Elvis. You can here Pete's Suziki Hayabusa at the start of the track - recording it in the driveway really freaked out Chris' doggos.
